National Adoption Day
/Happy National Adoption Day!
April 30th is National Adopt a Shelter Pet Day. This day was created to highlight the importance of adopting pets from shelters and bringing them into loving homes.
Today, Carol Link, the manager at our local OSPCA Shelter and I chatted about how they are dealing with the COVID-19 closures, the Urgent Animal Care Fund , and the MYM program for adoption.
URGENT CARE FUND
Our animals need you now more than ever. The long-term costs of care for animals in shelters are adding up, and not just for the Ontario SPCA, but for other SPCAs and humane societies across the province. With adoptions and other crucial programs on pause, funds are needed to ensure we can continue to be there for the animals.
By donating to the Urgent Animal Care Fund, you will help us continue to care for innocent animals who are now faced with a longer wait for their forever home. Your gift will also help ensure resources are available to pet owners in communities across Ontario who are faced with animal care challenges brought on by COVID-19.
To donate, go to urgentanimalcarefund.ca, or call 310-SPCA, 613-936-0072 and leave a message and a staff member can return your call and facilitate an over the phone donation. You can also mail a donation noting that it is to be directed to the fund to SD&G OSPCA, 550 Boundary Road, Box 52, Cornwall, Ont., K6H 5S3.
