WHO THEY ARE
Galaxy Reptile Rescue is an Ottawa area foster-based rescue with a passion for high standards in both maintenance and medical care. In addition to Rescue and Adoption, they offer Medical Assistance services for those struggling to provide treatment to their pets at home.
Their goal is to reduce the number of animals being mistreated unintentionally by misinformed but well-intentioned owners.
They focus their efforts primarily on those with some form of medical, nutritional or physical concern. These animals need more help not just in finding a home, but in regaining health and strength first.
Galaxy Reptile Rescue offers judgement-free assistance. They state “regardless of the reason a pet ends up with us, or the condition it arrives in, we are here to help however we can”.
Galaxy Reptile Rescue was formed in 2022, combining the decades of experience, dedication and compassion of its founding members - Amy, Syd and Martina. They are volunteer-run and foster-based, so do not have a central location. They operate out of Ottawa so cannot take on any animals prohibited by the City of Ottawa. They also do not deal with aquatic or semi-aquatic species such as turtles or amphibians.

Supporting my local community is very important to me, which is why I started the local rescues and shelters spotlight blog series.
The purpose of this initiative is to bring awareness to the many local shelters, rescues and nonprofit organizations that we have in our community and to help animals available for adoption find their fur-ever homes.
